Game Art Comp 6: Tom Hanks / Forrest Gump

I decided to pick one of my fav films of all time. A character who really comes alive not from a costume or special effect but from his facial expression. So its going to be fun to model

I just hope I have the time fo finish him in time.

Ok heres my first post after a few hrs work. Its really hard making it look like Forrest Gump, getting that innocence in his expression.

Does this look like Tom Hanks ?

Yeah I have been watching the trailers for The Polar Express, it does look interesting.

wow, looks like tom already!! great job! Though... toms hair spread over the whole top of his head, the hair on your model looks like a mohawk...

edit: on another look, it might just be the angle, i think i can see it..

Ive worked on the head more, still trying to nail down the Tom Hanks look . I very roughly just stuck a photo of Tom Hanks on my model to see how it would look. Obviously not the final texture

Anyway Im pleased with how its coming along.

The lower side is definitaly good shapewise. His forehead is a bit too broad in my opinion. I also think the inner points of his head are too deep.

The profile looks good but from the front I think the face is too narrow

Update. I modeled the body today. Its not optimised but I like how its going so far.

He is way to narrow over the shoulders.

Usually the width of the shoulders should be about three heads wide.

Buck you are definatly correct. So ive improved the anatomy, done a first pass at tidying up the mesh and for fun did this

Shoulders arnt quite right and the hands are not posed. Was quickly done but I couldnt resist. hehe

The texture of the face looks a little warm. Also, Tom's neck seemed really skinny in the movie, giving him a bird-like quality. Your model's neck looks like a normal person's, but not like Forrest Gump's.

Well ive finished it. Its not perfect and if I did it again there are things id change

Ive got to move onto other projects now.
