Expose & Spectrum Illustration

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum, but I've come here from time to time to check out a lot
of the amazing art work presented on here.

This is my first post, an illustration I did for Expose' and Spectrum called, "The Coldest Day".
This is my first attempt at a fully finished illustration with more than just a character, done in photoshop.

Some of you may have seen this already, but my friends JoshtheJames and
Sean McNallyism told me I should post some of my work here, plus I've always wanted to join this cool community.

Crits are definitly welcome.

Hi Chris!

Welcome to CG-Talk,

Very good painting. Nice colors, very dynamic pose and perspective.

The only thing I can say is: I want to see more of your work

A realy very good Painting.
I like most of the picture very much.
the clours you used the torn dress, the expression on her face and this (Zombie?)-Raven. Also the trees covered with snow.

What i like less are the clean and sharp edges of the buildings and the wall.
Also her feet look a bit hobbitish but thats a matter of taste i guess

Kepp up the great work and show us more of them

wow very beautiful! she reminds me of susan sarandon a tough, stunning woman.

i agree with orkoyoyo on the background being a bit to crisp... though i like how you brought down the level of detail back there.

do you notice a little qhosted shape around her left calf? was that intentional?

You do not deserve to know who I am.
Peace out, Bitches!

great work, i especially love the water splash effect from the axe!
What is a thought compared to a mind?

Nice image =) Ditto what everyone else has already said. The only thing I can add to it is that the water seems a bit viscous. At first glance I thought it was frozen. (But at second glance I realized just how sweet the image really is. Bravo!)

Nice. One of the strongest works I've seen from you. Really like the narrative. Waiting to hear back from spectrum is torture. One month to go. Good Luck.

What I meant is that it was one of the strongest digital paintings I've seen from him. I know all about his concept work and other skills from hanging out at conceptart site for the past two years or so. From Reading his posts on his reference gathering and saying that it was his first attempt at a full and finished illustration, the results show. please don't get upset from me expressing my POV Joshua.

His drawings skills on the same level or in some instances better. His skills have always been there. Some people just respond more to colour. It's quite silly actually. Being able to smoosh some paint around is nothing more than presentation.

I just hate to hear people 'only' giving respect once they see a well resolved painting. Paint is icing, not the definitive attribute of an artist.

Eric I hope you don't take that wrong...I'm really not trying to call you out.

I love the water on the axe and around her feet. Very well drawn. The pose, style, color pallette, feel is awesome. Great job.

Woow, awesome!

I love the energy and atmosphere, as well as the anatomy done on the main chrarcter.

I hope to see more of your work!

This is just top shelf work, plus I took a look around your website and I really dig your style, and cannot wait to see what you produce in the future when you do "push" yourself.

My only crit is that the water looks amazing, but there is not distrotion on the view of the feet through the water, they are just colored differently, which might have been a good way to go, but does seem a bit off to me.
Outside what box?

Dude that picture rocks!

Love the feeling of fear, very nice.

although the bird seems a bit out of place, for some reason i think she would be trying to swat at it of it was that close to her face.

just a thought.
Does this knife make me look taller?

welcome to the forum

and great work, like everyone says

but i am curious to know the theme behind the scene.
is she killing herself ?
and she seems as she doesnt want to end her life.
and also please explain her connection with the
figures seen in the background.
I am just a drop in the ocean, will I ever be able to see the ocean.
