"SpongeBob" Enters the 3rd Dimension

The first movie made $140 million, so it was only a matter of time...

Wikipedia mentions the 3D work was done by Rough Draft Studios in Seoul.

It says "Animation" and I believe that's referring to the 2D side of things for the film and not the CG.

What's the world coming to?
Spongebob in 3D pretty much ruins it for me.

I suppose this was inevitable. But as one who grew up with the SpongeBob, I have to say the trailer did nothing for me.

Guess I am in the minority, but I thought that looked fucking awesome. They have translated the design stupendously. I am definitely looking forward to this.

Well, frankly, this is the only Spongebob in 3D I am willing to put up with (seriously!).

Bob looks more like Swiss Cheese than sponge.

As far as I know the lion's share of work is Iloura in Melbourne, Aus.
I have several friends and ex colleagues who hopped to Mlb for this after LEGO.
Whether they outsourced some of the work, I don't know, but historically Korea does a crapton of 2D animation for the States and ancilliary 3D work, so more likely that's just a mix up.

LOL. Yeah, that's going to be fun. I've got 4 kids so we are all up in that Spongebob culture. It always makes me laugh. We know people that won't let their kids watch it. They claim its just too much over the top. They look at us like we're a bunch of heathens.

Definitely will see this and probably get the DVD or Blue Ray Disc.
