Dinosaur modelers & animators wanted for fan film
(A friend told me about this site today... what a great place.)
I'm directing a feature-length Jurassic Park fan film (you can see a teaser for it here: www.martinrandle.co.uk/jp/JP4Teas.mov) and I'm looking for dinosaur modelers & animators and 3D environment specialists who are willing to work for free or low pay. First of all, let me tell you a little general info about this film.
The story is about a virus - the same virus that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago - that is now threatening to bring on the extinction of the human race. When dinosaur carcasses start washing up on the shores of South America, a team of scientists from the C.D.C. (and Alan Grant) under the protection of a military squad, are sent to the island to study living specimens and find out why they are all suddenly falling ill. When they learn about the virus, it quickly becomes a race to save humanity from extinction. The government orders the destruction of Isla Sorna immediately - and, since the team members themselves may have contracted the virus, abandons them on the island. The team now has less than six hours to find out if they're infected with DX and try to find some way off the island before the bombs hit - all while having to survive those nasty dinosaurs.
The film will be done almost entirely with Flash animation (since it would be impossible for me to film all of this live) but with some scenes live action. I'm trying to have some of the scenes (particularly the dinosaur-lovers-dream-come-true opening scene set in the Cretacious era, a shot of dinosaur carcasses washed up on a beach, a shot of Brachiosaurs walking through shallow water out to sea to die, the explosive destruction of the island, and a few other short shots) be entirely CGI including the environment. I'm also *trying* (it might prove to be too difficult) to film some scenes (such as Carnotaurs in a shed attacking marines) live with CG dinosaurs. Basically I'm trying to have as little of it be Flash-animated as possible. I've completed the screenplay and have just moved into production. I plan to have it finished by January or February of 2005 and released on the web, with a possible free DVD release.
I'm looking for CG dinosaur (and possibly humans) modelers and animators, preferably those who have some experience with CG dinosaurs. The more the merrier. Since I'm on a tight budget, you would have to be willing to work for free (or very little pay). But if you do outstanding work, I don't think I'd feel right about not paying you. Some of the potential CGI dinosaurs are...
Triceratops (babies and adult)
Velociraptors of a later evolutionary stage that have feathers
& many herbivores
Some of these you might already have modeled. I can send you the script so you can see what you'd be working on, and maybe decide which scene(s) you'd like to work on. We can start immediately. If you're interested in any of this, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
