Monster of Paradise Falls, Maxim Kostenko (2D)

Title: Monster of Paradise Falls
Name: Maxim Kostenko
Country: Russia
Software: Photoshop

When I started painting I did not have a clear idea. I was just experimenting with the silhouette. But then my daughter came and said that it Kevin from "Up", and I decided to add old man. Hope you like it.

Thumbs up

Wow! That's a very impressive rendition of the creature from the movie "Up". I like how you did the head and the feet in particular. However, some of the feathers on the body get a bit stiff and look more like scales than feathers (hard edges and fairly smooth surface). I like the inclusion of the walker with the tennis balls for the old man, although I don't like him as much as I like the bird. Old age renderings are pretty tricky to get the folds and wrinkles of the face right, and the character has a certain look to him, which you did capture with the square face shape and such (good job including the goggles). I also like the color choices here as well, especially with the reds on both the head and on the ground so it gives some complimentary balance with the greens and blue tints on the bird. Your compositional angles and set up were well thought out as well (nice sense of action and motion). Overall, it's a very nice tribute to the movie "Up". Keep it up. Great job.
