Maya 2014 Polygon Edge Display

Hi everyone, after a very rigid search I have not been able to find the right documentation on this. Polygon display options have changed, leaving us without the option of seeing ONLY hard edges.

Display>Polygon>Hard Edges , used to be able to display hard edges while hiding all others. Now it only highlights them in a custom color which indeed is cool but sometimes the ability to hide the edges is very useful. I've tried using Custom Polygon Display but still no luck. I can't imagine this feature has gone away, anyone have any ideas?

I'll just answer my own question here, with the new custom edge displays in 2014 you can no longer do this at the object level. You can however do it globally in the prefs>display>wireframe on shaded. This is slightly annoying but you can quickly make toggle buttons:

displayPref -wsa "full";
displayPref -q -wireframeOnShadedActive;

displayPref -wsa "none";
displayPref -q -wireframeOnShadedActive;

Hope this helps anyone else who used to use the polygon display the way I did-

Request to return Display Edges to previous functionality.

I found the same problem like you and I contact with Autodesk Help by Twitter.

You can read here:

I used the form to send a formal request to Autodesk to return to old functionallity and add a new option to show like in Maya 2014 as 'hardHighlight' for example.

Perhaps you can do the same using the feedback form and they can change it for next Maya 2014 SP. If more people do the same request perhaps they change it.
