I decided to make something similar to the Iron Maiden's powerslave disk illustration.
As usual, my Macbook with intel card gives up way before I'm satisfied, that was not different with this model. Model now is too heavy, and painful to retouch, and since I have only two months playing with 3D I havo no machine power to keep trying things, it's not practical.
(say nothing about the glossy floor. hehe It's fixed but I want to fix other things before "waste" another 30 hrs of rendering.
So if you guys can give me a tip on how to improve this (light/tex) to look more realistic it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Not bad for only 2 months of experience!
I think your color palette looks sort of buttery and warm. I think the movie 10000BC has a palette that might be more what your after, so maybe you could study stills from that. Things could be brighter, more saturated, and hotter.
Looking at pics of Cairo and Tahir Square might help too:
