uv's problem (noob)

Hi everyone, i've downloaded a file (.max) and then exported it to maya (.fbx and .3ds) i used these two because when i exported it in .3ds there were missing objects that i took from the .fbx file, but when i render, the objects' textures from the .fbx file look, well not good at all...



I thought it might be normals but i checked it and they seem good.

Well, after checking and checking again i found it was because i was rendering with maya software instead of mental ray, now it looks like this:
