Rift + Virtuix Omni = VR 2.0?

a friend sent me a link to this today and if you watch the video, the webcam feed in the corner shows the prototype that they're working on for this omnidirectional treadmill...

I think this is where it's at, I could imagine in the near future a room at the MLG full of people playing some next gen team game on these.. how awesome would that be?

Add to this several sex machines to simulate bullet hits.

It's been reported that the project has gotten off the ground and into actually producing a fully working version for sale.

Will this really be a VR comeback?

I find it amusing to think that a gym might have rows of these all linked up.

Wonder how you do a crouch jump?
There's a related video of Jamie Hyneman using the Oculus Rift by itself. I would like to test it out to see if I get motion sick. Otherwise it looks pretty cool.

You get sick when the camera is moving, basically your body wants to do something different than what the camera is doing and it throws you off. FPS's are terrible with it because of that.

This looks pretty interesting.
I can imagine a bunch of players rushing about in an arena with these goggles on. It could be called paintball!

I had the same thought... then again, I also thought about a room full of military personnel controlling robots half-way across the planet... hhhmmm.

Talking about cardio, how about working out in Skyrim.
