Transfer Capture Weights

Ok, here's what's going on.

1. I have rigged and weighted a character in Houdini.
2. I found that there are a few seams on the character that needs to be welded.
3. I fused them, laid down a rop to read back in the bgeo. I get errors with my capture node. All I did was close a few vertices.

EDIT: I found this, but there is not much to go by as to how I set the nodes up to change the geometry topology.

I think your problem is that when you fuse points you change the topology of your surface. Therefore the capture paint and capture mirror aren't seeing the point numbers they are expecting. I would suggest transferring the capture attributes to the new geometry AFTER the capture mirror. The transfer should be able to handle the topology change and the new geo with the transferred attributes will then deform properly.

5. In the viewer, use the tab menu to choose the AttribTransfer operator.

6. In the network editor, select the model you want to transfer from, then click RMB to finish the selection. The model will highlight in yellow.

7. In the network editor, select the model you want to transfer to, then click RMB to finish the selection. The old model will highlight in cyan.

EDIT: This method can be a little annoying. I found it better to just make an attrtransfer sop, connect the "from" on the right and "to" on the left.

I got the geometry to transfer to a degree using the docs method, but it didn't give me exactly what I wanted. Or, maybe I didn't perform the operation correctly. Now, my concern is being able to transfer those attributes and copy them to the new piece of geometry without having to reference the old.

Can you zip up your files and send them to me? It would be easier to explore your solution if I can see it in front of me.

Sent. Thanks.
