Too late now...
the whole world (well at least those interested in graphics hardware) knows as Douglas Trumbull summarizes the state of Hollywood and the CGI industry at GTC. And he wasn't cut off by the Jaws theme:

What on earth do you mean? Colin's Bear is a classic CG meme! It has the magical ability to get both better and worse the more you watch it.

Here's a little interview he did a few years ago regarding the animation, the class, and the school: http://waxy.org/2008/01/colins_bear_ani/

I'm really curious to know what ever happened to Colin.

You have also missed the point. No need to post more misery on here. Every day I come on these boards and its becoming more like the daily mail newspaper. What I mean by that is almost scaremongering people to not joining this field.
I think a lot of people need to take a step back from all the chaos.

Yeah sorry Jonny,

Well at least under a CT or MRI scan, synthetic happiness is identical to real happiness.

Luckily there is spell checking as I forgot how to spell happiness.

In my twitter feed, Disney character designer Chris Oatley's inspirational advice keeps popping up http://chrisoatley.com/jobs-in-animation-industry/
