Angry Weird Vertex Problem

Hi guys,

My problem isn't massive, infact its so simple I am confused why I can't fix it - I have tried working around the problem in several ways.

I have checked the normals of all influential faces and they are all facing the correct direction. I have no extra polys that could be interfering with the weld.

All I want to do is weld these 2 verts so I can cap around the rest of the geometry, but Max is not wanting to play nice.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

You can't weld vertices to a closed edge.It will make a double edge there and it's accepted as a geometry error. You need to delete some edges there to be able to weld.

I rebuilt the whole structure, and it actually came down the fact that that corresponding surfaces were not planar...normally Max doesn't care, but in this case it did. I understand what you are saying, but if that was the case, bevel's would not be possible (which was basically what I was doing). Thankyou for the advice though!
