Mental ray - diffuse+direct light

maybe I haven't googled well enough
but does anyone know how to separate these 2 passes from a rendering using
mia_photometric_lights and Arch material?

I've composited some basic renders out of vray, and that one has diffuse color and direct light passes
http://www.cg-blog.com/index.php/20...ng-tutorial.htm

I've even used mia_material_x
but it looks like the diffuse channel out of that contains both the
direct light and the diffuse color combined

and this
http://www.si-community.com/communi...php?f=28&t=1879
looks to be the same type of passes?

can anyone point me in the right direction? thanks!

Ah found it myself after more digging!

so I'll post my solution in case anyone else bumps into the same issue
so for properly compositing softimage xsi render passes to rebuild a beauty pass the instructions are below

firstly I used Architectural_Multi-out shader for my object
and you can use mia_x_render_channels to make the passes quicker

found here by guillaume laforge
http://frenchdog.wordpress.com/2008...odesk-compound/

then following these instructions I rebuilt my beauty in AE 5.5
http://docs.autodesk.com/MENTALRAY/...ultiple_Outputs

the info is in the section around 75% down on the page with the robot

my AE comp of a sphere on a grid can be found here
