HCR MINI-Challenge #37: Femme Fatale! - Claudia

Hello,

Long time! I'm going to attempt to do this 75 year old little girl, as portrayed in the film Interview with the Vampire.

I see her as a femme fatale, even though not the stereotypical one since she looks like a little girl rather than a dominatrix. I like how she lures innocent people in with her manners and sweet looks, then kills them softly.

Since I spent most of the evening installing my computer, I only had 2 minutes to work on this so far. I'm on a roll!

Nice to see you back. Interesting choice. Would be nice to see some malice or cunning reflected in her face, and age in the eyes.

Oh yeah, my wife is very excited about this one, big "Interview" fan. I was always impressed by the performance Dunst gave at such a young age.

Hey again. Thanks for the encouraging words! First wip after dynameshing with lots of really low-rez reference! Long way to go still.

C&C welcome.

This may just be your choice in style but shouldn't her skin be smoother? She appears much older than a little girl.

Also, is this rendered in ZBrush?

Hi Wyatt, had to go out of my way a little to check, but it all has to be done in the end so thanks for your comment!

You're certainly right, looks older on those renders. Even though the model is in an early stage, I found lots of lumps on the silhouette. So I presumed the reason is because in Zbrush the render looks quite rough, but the same model rendered with MR, or whatever other renderer + SSS actually shows that little is left of all that with the scattering. Did a few tests to make sure so I'm posting a render of that, lemme know if you still find the problem. Anyway, hoping to post some more progress tomorrow!

Definitely smoother in this render.
So that first one was a ZBrush render. I forget how much it has advanced.

Nice start, but it'd be nice to see more than the face. It'll take more to capture the character than just the face.

It doesnt get tougher than little girls!
You guys are fearless
This is a particularly hard one: cute little girl with dangerous edge contradiction. I havent tried too many children but it looks like the fat volumes could be more apparent and the features might be a little on the small side making her look older.

Great work!

thanks fellas.

Thought it's been a while, here's a quick check-in so you don't forget about me... Not a lot new in terms of modeling, but I hadn't put any wips of the base-mesh for body. Also did some texture work in ZApplink, so I can have a bump-map later on if I fancy.

Looks really good!
I would loose the indents around the jaw mandibular ramus and round out the the lower jawline if it was mine.

Cool stuff.
