Mobile Devices as a Medium for Architectural Visualization Presentations

Hi guys!

I know game artists have been using this already but I want to focus on Arch Viz.

The fact that mobile devices now are fast and very capable of displaying and rendering 3D objects in real time, means that it is now possible to use mobile devices as a medium to present our ideas, not only in 2D graphics, but in its full 3D glory, and it's interactive!

You can read the rest of the post here:

Please let me know what you think so I can improve on the subject matter.

Thanks!

Thanks idtdi! Great link you posted.

For mobile devices, some apps have real lights but I don't find any practical use for it. When I present to my clients on meetings off site, I give them the tablet so they can manipulate the views and see the project in 3D. The lighting information is texture baked, makes it easier for them to see the idea and in turn, we get more response and interaction from the clients.

Combined with other presentation techniques like rendered image on print, sketches, and instead of a physical model, we have digital scale model on LED TVs, all these make a killer presentation.

Honestly, unwrapping is not that hard to do especially for arch viz's side of things because we only use hard surfaced models. There are a lot of apps, free ones too, that makes this even easier. That said, I hope to see more people using this technique.
