SSS Preprocessing Advice

hey guys

im working on this project which requires the use of SSS on a fairly simple animated human head.

I was hoping anybody could highlight to me the reason behind the 1-2min+ of preprocessing it takes before it starts rendering a frame, this duration of preprocessing seems to only occur when using SSS.

I originally thought that it was because of the displacement map detail but i have removed it and still the amount of time before the image actually starts to render is un-changed.

Iím working on a tight deadline and have a substantial amount of frames to render and this 1-2min of preprocessing is going to be a major problem.

Iíve already changed the anti-aliasing and sampling contrast, both of with shortened/lengthend the actual render itself but the preprocessing was unchanged.

I would greatly appreciate any advice, information and/or useful links that would help to reduce the amount of time it takes to preprocess.

thank you for your time
