Path Deform vertex rotation

I can't seem to figure this out, but the solution must be simple.

I have an object deformed by a path, but at certain parts, the rotation/twist of the object is incorrect. Ideally, I would like to grab the verts where the twist is wrong, rotate the vertex to correct the rotation, but cannot. The twist option on the this modifier twist the whole object, I only want to correct certain areas. How? Thanks in advance.

Edit: Forgot to mention, this is a long object being animated along the path. The typical arrows flowing alone a curve thing. I can't correct the shape of the obj before the deform.
