Question Detach a viewport, is it possible ?

Hi everyone, I just received a second screen and im now running on a dual screen, I was wondering if its possible to detach viewports so I can have maximized user and top views on the two different windows ? I know it is possible to make custom layouts but I need to use my company layout wich is not available in dual screen yet and since the layout is constantly being updated, I cant make a new layout everytime to fit my dual screen, I need an easier way.

thanks

You could use an object view (View > General > Object View). Normally these are used to isolate an object but you can turn on View > Display All Objects. To emulate Top/Front/Right views, turn on View > Orthographic and use the X/Y/Z buttons.

actually, not quite perfectly
it seems to work well in the ortographic view (in the object view window) but after reseting the view once (R key) all the objects seems cut in half no matter what distance I am from the object

when in top/right/etc views, the camera distance is way too low, objects disappear as soon as I scroll the view back, not sure how to set this.

plus whenever I close the object view windows, all my preferences, everything I edited in this viewport reset.

The objects being cut is most likely a mix of clippng planes and the lens being too long, just change those values.

As for "losing the settings", if you open a view and don't change the camera it will use a transient one created and destroyed with the view. You can create a camera in the scene set the way you want it (and change the region bands to full transparent in the preferences so they don't show up in mis-proportioned views) and set the object view to that. All parameters saved with the camera will be retained, the ones saved with the view will obviously be lost when it's destroyed.
