5.01 and mental ray displacement rendering

hey,

anyone checked maya 5.01 and mental ray displacement rendering lately?

does not work like in 5.0 for me anymore. i dont get a fine displacement. try using a checker texture and see..

anyone else?

ohh.. i found it...

in 5.0 it was enough to create the displacement approximation in the mental ray render globals, which then acted as an override for all surfaces.

now in 5.01 you have to use the approximation editor and assign the approx to the object to make it work..

hmm.. ok

You’re right, the override doesn't seem to do anything...one would think that the whole point of a override would be to avoid having to set individual settings
