Speed Modelling 8-18-2012 to 8-25-2012

Speed Modelling 8-18-2012 to 8-25-2012

Speed Modelling 13

I have been given the honor to host the latest Speed Modelling Session. So here we go..

Orchestra Instruments.
Cello
Flute
Violin
Cornet
Harp

The time you take to do these should be no more than hour but feel free to spend some more time if needed. These are intended to improve speed and skills so no one will judge if you take longer. . Also feel free to expand on the list of instruments. let your imagination run wild with this one.

heres my cornet

though i will probably make another one.

I can't wait to see what instruments you all come up with. Soo bring them on

EDIT: Also I think this theme will fit perfectly with my idea to put all entries into a collage. like an orchestra of images. I really hope to see some activity

mine took alittle over an hour. dont quote me but I think hour and 20 minutes. Mine is just a loft and some adjustments. and 3 cylinders for finger parts(not sure the name ) It was pretty easy. but i find most of the time it takes me to do these comes from trying to figure out how i want to make the shape in question.

I think instruments are indeed challenging maybe the time allowed should be 2 hours?

really nice instrument you got there by the way

Its really difficult to do it in one hour. But since it is ok to take extra time, it doesn't matter.

After one hour I had this:

Cello1hour von Sundaynights auf Flickr

I needed the next two hours to find out how to do this:

Cello_wire_Schnecke von Sundaynights auf Flickr

and finally my outcome after 3 1/2 hours:

Cello01 von Sundaynights auf Flickr

and some extra wires:

Cello_Wire_all von Sundaynights auf Flickr

Cello_wire_mid von Sundaynights auf Flickr

now i need something to eat

------------------

and I like your theme, because it is really challenging! ^^

Yea it is a nice theme by the way, forgot to say that.
I might add more detail to mine aswell, hopefully I'll have some time tomorrow.
good work there guys btw.

Added some color and subdivision, usually detailing is something I have to feel out before I do something else.....

ya Sundaynights really really nice work on the spiral head thing. You deserve that something to eat, hope it was yummy .

Whom: i really like the render you got going on, on your expanded instrument. Is that ambient occlusion i see there. maybe it kinda looks like it to me. anyways great job guys.

Ill probably have another instrument up tomorrow. Not sure what to make we already covered the violin-esque instruments hmm?

Thanks, yes it was yummy ^^

I did the spiral by beginning at the inside "blob" with a sphere- I deleted one half and then extruded the outer part of the spiral from two side faces of the sphere all way around- then I connected the boarder edges to there appropriated edges on the sphere. And then doing adjustments of some edges and inserting edge loop when needed - I deleted also some triangles and made them n-gons XD (they looked better) - so the spiral is not all quads...
If you find other "easy" ways to go about that, I would love to here it!

It's funny the first thing I tried to model when I had maya was a spiraled seashell - I actually could not do it cause I didn't even know all modeling functions. I made it from a handful of spheres and it looked horrible. Nice to know that I can do it now ^^

I'll do the flute next.

Nice work guys ^^

So here comes the flute
one and a half hour work

flute_main von Sundaynights auf Flickr

flute_part von Sundaynights auf Flickr

flute_parts_crazy von Sundaynights auf Flickr

would have been nice to have a real one - the pics in the internet don't show enough detail to figure out what parts are there and where to put them exactly (and what they do)

Thanks, I have the harp half done (but without time measurment) - will finish it tomorrow. I am highly spirited! ^^

Could do it if you have too much work and are in need of some rest. If Ben or someone else doesn't want to.

So here is my harpe, I don't like the strings - they are not spread out evenly and need SOME adjustments. First I wanted to also detail the back more, but interest faded away.
