WIP Scripted animation, feedback wanted

Hey all,

This is my first attempt at using scripting. I wanted to make a cartoon-looking sequence with a character in transit.

The "car" and character are rigged and parented to a “root” locator, and then I used scripts to make the wheels and hood ornament turn, and make the car and character bounce.

Can anyone tell me how to create a lattice that can be linked to a rig in Maya? I want to make the car roof stretch and bob but I can’t seem to make the lattice work properly. I can apply it to the roof fine, but when I try to move the car it won’t move with it. If I try parenting it to the rig or the master locator it goes crazy like it has a double transform!

Please let me know what you think.

PS. The model is from the free download provided by CGTalk (thanks guys).
