Two new Cintiq models from Wacom

On this week of Comic-con, details are emerging about two new Cintiq tablet displays from Wacom.

http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/10/wacom-cintiq-22hd/
The Cintiq 22HD replaces the Cintiq 21UX; has a display res of 1920 x 1080 (widescreen aspect ratio); contrast of 1000:1 (compared to the 21UX's contrast of 550:1); and MSRP of $1999 USD.

The Cintiq 24HD Touch incorporates the multi-touch technology previously introduced in other Wacom brand models of Bamboo Touch and the Intuos 5 line. MSRP of $3699 USD.

The point is to make them cheaper, not more expensive

Seriously? Only HD res on a 22" screen? Oh well, at least as its a cheap mass produced low res, poor aspect ratio for actually working with tv screen it finally offers led backlighting which should make it thinner, lighter and cheape... Oh wait, no it doesn't.

I bet they are paying a hefty licensing fee for multitouch. That is the only explanation for the price increase.

Price aside, this is what I've been asking for ever since multitouch was introduced. The ability to sculpt with a Wacom pen with one hand and manipulate the model view with the other at the same time would finally complete the feeling of holding a model and sculpting it. I'm hoping that Autodesk implements this functionality into all it's 3d products, as well as Pixologic into Zbrush. In the Mudbox demo I did not see him use both hands at the same time, so I'm thinking that it may be a large software rewrite to be able to spin a model and paint/sculpt on it at the exact same time, which would be pretty cool.
