Shave & Haircut To light in vray

Hi all,
I'm having some trouble with Joe alters Shave & Haircut, specifically rendering it in Vray.
Please excuse the very early head shading...

The problem is this hair is meant to be dark. The root and tip colours are set to dark brown..
I've done a lot of reading and can't see any obvious solutions.
Just some stuff about possible light linking problems.
however the light I have on this layer is just a basic spot light.

Any tips/tutorials appreciated.

Cheers,

Jay.
