Help needed regarding cloth modeling

Can anyone plz suggest me what is the best way (and software) to model a cloth for a character to be animated?

Thank u ammark i'll try as u said... but by ncloth will we be able to create details? like stitches, bump near the stitches pockets etc?? and i need every thing in 4 sided poly.. will ncloth fulfill all the above or is there some other way too?? plz help

You could use normal maps to simulate the stitches.

thank you flatulentFuzz... can u suggest me any tutorial links for creating stitches using normal maps????

Easiest approach would be to take the cloth geometry into a sculpting app, sculpting the stitches on a reasonably high-density subd level and then exporting a normal map.

You could also refer to this tutorial if you like
