WIP- Outdoor, lush environment (Shattered Oasis)
These are pics from a pair of maps I'm doing for the Shattered Oasis mod (ut2k*). I consider them mostly done, but im likely to do another round of major work on it in coming months.
It's hard to really get into the nuances from these screenshots, but heck. The two maps look the same cuz they share assets and are variations for 2 gametypes (one is team oriented with vehicles and the other is tight DM style gameplay). I'd love feedback on the vibe and art. Most of the stuff in it is original, done in 3dsmax. I cant say that i did it all, but certainly most of it ( for example: i did 1 of the trees, another on the team did the willow, and the 3rd tree type is from ut2k). ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________

I understand that your probably going for a certain atmosphere, but some parts really are too dark in my opinion. In fact the lighting in general doesn't quite seem to match the sky. I don't know, it's hard to explain...

I don't know, it's hard to explain... can you be more specific? granted, i think screenshots seldomly do game levels justice... but i'd like to hear your point on this. do you think that sky's conveyed light effect just doesnt get reflected in the tones of the map? or is it literally too dark? (im always concerned that my screenshots are improperly dark in jpg format, and look like crap on other people's computers) __________________

nice
Looking very good. I love atmosphere. If you could take a top view and post it that would be great. It's hard to see the flow/design of the level in perspective view.

The overall lightning of the map is green while the sky is violett/redŽish. That looks a bit strange. And the hills look quite blank; maybe a texture layer more would help to bring more varity to them. But I know that is a typical problem with todays real-time terrain-maps. I think generally it looks too green.
But overall really nice map! Looking forward to try out that MOD. __________________

Looking forward to try out that MOD. actually, you know what... that greenish yellow tint of the fog/background was done due to an EARLIER sky coloration. you're right. imma try this with a slightly different fog tone and see what happens (will post) __________________
