low-poly ship

Hey guys,

I recently (finally) finished a (kind of) low-poly model of a ship for a currently unannounced game and wanted to get your opinion on it.

before you say anything - I know it's not super-detailed, and it's missing some rather important details (steering wheel comes to mind, among other things :]) ... but I sort of had limited time to do this one ... so ... be gentle, please ;) thanks

so, here's the turntable:

Cheers,
Martin

Cool man!

Have you seen the Mayflower replica?

They also made replicas of the Columbus ships.

You can also google Carrack or Caravel for some reference.

If your trying to make this more realistic, the bottom should be about 2-3 times wider than the top. The middle should also bulge out a more, and the overall shape should be a bit more round, with most of the weight near the water line.

The ropes that connect the corners of the sails back to the hull are called the Sheet lines, and it would help if you added them. The sails look odd just dangling off the mast.

yeah, I know it's missing some essential parts ;) luckily it's a model for an RTS game and it'll be viewed from far far away - so it shouldn't be that much of a problem ... but thanks for the suggestions!! I'll definitely take that in mind when I'll be doing my next ship model ... thanks!! :)
