This has been done in Maya and AfterEffects.

Its is very basic render. I am trying to juggle a lot of things including rendertimes as I am doing this at my workplace. I do plan to play around with the texture once find the time, that is.

The duration will be 2-3 Mins. The last sequence has been animated in AE. My compositor wanted to try her hand at animating it...yes it will be tweaked.
