Shave & Haircut - Root & Tip Colour Blending

Hi
i am using shave & haircut with maya 2008...
I am creating toothbrush bristles like this
http://www.flickr.com/photos/70332615@N02/8547173231/
I am trying to do this using root and tip colour... but right now both colours blend in the middle
creating a soft gradient
i want to be able to control the gradient so that the root colour goes up to 80% and the tip colour is 20%
Any ideas how i can do this...
Thanks in advance

I don't think there's a way to do what you want, at least not that I know of.
One thing that you can try is the "squirrel" option, which makes a sharper color change between root and tip colors.

Thanks for the reply....
Actually how i ended up doing it was render white bristles , render pink bristles and render black to white gradient bristles.... then in post i colour corrected the black and white gradient and made it sharp and used it as a matte to achieve the effect....
