Could you guys help me in a survey?

Could you evaluate the following list of items in the Filter menu with a number of 1 to 10 for each item, with 1 being "Rarely used" and 10 being "Used a lot" ?

Hey Rui, that's no problemo. I'm assuming you mean which ones would you choose to have hidden using the filter menu, is that right? In that case I'd say I never filter any of these, except:

Spline: 4
Deformer: 7
Camera: 8
Light: 8
Grid: 9
HNCage: 6
N-Gon lines: 8


Also I've always got Object Highlighting off. Cameras & Lights are almost always on during scene setup, and off during animation.

I don't like the grid horizon and world axis in the when viewing models, so I've scripted and shortkeyed them off at the same time, I use it a lot

For me it's pretty much the 10's get turned off for hardware previews, or are always off.

Sure :-)

I created a plug-in that shows a dockable dialog, containing all the Filter options.
It also allows the saving of sets so, if the users has some options that are usually on/off in certain occasions (modeling, lighting, texturing, animating, etc), it can save a set and then, from a drop-down menu recall it.
But, instead of have the options in the same order as they are in the menu (actually, they are in four columns, to make it tidier), I would like to place the most commonly used options at the top.

That is why I'm asking for the habits of the users :-)

I guess you could also sort them based on their type.

For example, first group could be core C4D objects. (polygons, generators, points)
another group could be viewport helpers (grid, world axis, horizon)
one more could be control-related, etc.

Actually... I think that's how the current setup's arranged. But yeah, having headers for each group could help a lot with readability. The current list in the menu's hard to read in its current state.

I'd like to see the new R14 outline feature in there as well, even though its not in the filter list. I'm finding myself toggling it frequently (I like it, but it can slow down the viewports and interfere at times).

I agree with rustEdge that it really matters based on the type of object and the current task. Character animating might need joints, motion paths, axis, nulls, etc. while Mograph animation would want a different preset. I like the idea of being able to define sets of filters based on what type of work I am doing at the moment.

I also tend to keep different sets of filters based on the viewport and view format. Ortho views tend to be wireframe and have more helpers enabled (grid, camera, lights, nulls,etc) and camera view are more like previews: shaded and only renderables enabled. So support for filters based on each viewport's format, on a per viewport basis, would be on my wishlist.
