Attempt

hello, after working in 3d and suffering from render and hardware I decided to learn matte painting because I liked the idea of 2d which need less render time and processor at least at this stage

here is the image and a breakdown for what I did .... its a very very simple and basic work and I wish to hear your criticisms to know if is it worth to continue on it or not

Hi,
for first Im not specialized to the mattepainting but I have also some basic knowledge and according to my opinion its not bad for the start. But I would suggest few things:

- adjust gamma/levels of those separated landscapes to match them a little bit, because this way its obvious they are composited from various source images
- this is more tip than critique: with various source images (like in your case many separated landscapes from various sources) try to keep the lighting directions in the same way, you can flip it and so on. On this image its not very visible so it could be considered OK but in the future try to keep that in mind, I did few time this mistake and it destroyed overall feeling from the picture

But I like the color correction, it gives it an atmosphere

Nice scene!! You would have superior results (perspective) with camera-mapping (project your scene on 3D objects)..
