Southern Ground Hornbill, Leandre Hounnake (3D)

Title: Southern Ground Hornbill
Name: Leandre Hounnake
Country: France
Software: 3ds max, Mudbox, VRay

Southern Ground Hornbills is a large bird, at 90 to 129 centimetres, which can be found from northern Namibia and Angola to northern South Africa to Burundi and Kenya. They require a savanna habitat with large trees for nesting and dense but short grass for foraging.

Done in 3ds Max and Mudbox. Rendered with V-Ray.

This is incredible! What a nice picture. I would love to see some clay renders/details for that one

Thank you aelex.
I began this piece inside Sculptris. I love this software because it's free and simple to use and it's just like working with clay without always thinking about the technical things.
I done retopology in 3ds Max and then exported the model in Mudbox. No particulary unsusual techniques were employed.

Hi Yuriki
I used Hair&Fur for the large part of feathers and Multiscatter too. I rendered it directly inside V-Ray

Great job - nice attention to detail, and the feathers look fantastic.
