The Making of Avatar, Saturday April 3rd



Gnomon is proud to host a free, full-day event with several of the artists responsible for the ground breaking film Avatar! This event will cover design and technology with a wide array of never before seen artwork, shot breakdowns and Q&A.

The schedule for the day will be as follows:

Design: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Topics covered during the Design portion will include the design of various elements of Avatar, including characters, creatures, vehicles, props, sets and the world of Pandora.

Lunch: 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
A free lunch will be provided.

Technology: 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Presenters will discuss the technology used in creating Avatar. Topics will include motion capture and animation and integration techniques, real-time virtual filmmaking, and live action/augmented reality integration. Each presenter will cover their responsibilities and show behind the scenes footage related to their work.

This event is free of charge, but seats are limited. The first 700 people to RSVP will receive a confirmation email verifying admittance to the event. Confirmation emails will be sent out on Wednesday, March 31st. RSVP now!

Unfortunately its not up to us whether or not we will be allowed to film and rebroadcast the event. We're trying our best to get permission but its still unknown.

Yea, I hope so. Just got through watching it on blu-ray and was blown away, just amazing.

Hey guys, thanks for your interest. We got permission to film but not to rebroadcast any of it. Still trying though!

If you guys only put one video event up this year it has to be that one .

At the 82nd Annual Academy Awards (www.oscar.com) the thing grabbed each and every individual attention was the movie “THE HURT LOCKER” winning Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Director one of the contender running opposite was “AVATAR”

This Thread Explores the possibilities and makes an effort to understand which two of this film deserves the Award in the above mentioned specific categories. The attempt here is two understand the creative and technical aptitude. The Forum will not take personal discrimination on the Academy Jury as on the Film makers.
