Convert PFX to Poly 'flat model' issue

Hello, I'm wondering how to fix this problem. I have two different tree paint effects brushes used. Since I need to render in Mental Ray, I've converted this into Polygons using the Convert Paint Effects to Polygons tool.

One brush tree has converted correctly, at least what I expect it to. The other brush seems to not take the full low poly model like I thought it should instead it remains 'flat'.

I'm new to Paint Effects, but would love some help with this. I've been searching quite a while now, I still can't figure this out.

Paint Effects brushes can be 2D (Paint) as well as 3D (Mesh). You have one of each in your example. You need to tell the brush node wether you want to use it in ‘Paint’ or ‘Mesh’ mode.

Select your flat Paint Effects brush node and look for an Attribute labelled ‘Brush Type’. It will be at the very top in the Attribute Editor. From the drop down box, change to ‘Mesh’. If you had construction history on when you created the Paint Effects stroke, the change will carry over to the polygon conversion. If not, delete the polygon object and re-convert.
