scale pivot

1. Let's imagine we have a cube, that were rotated and then its transforms frozen

Now it's scale axes are pointing some odd direction

2. What I want is to get the straight axes like they were on a new-born object:

How can I do this automatically or, at least, manually?

You can hit insert, click on the blue icon and rotate the pivot to match the object rotation. There is probably a mel script that automates this if you search for it.

You could also set the scale tool axis to world, but be aware that when scaling objects in any axis mode other than object , Maya actually does a scale on the verts.

thanks a lot, guys!

btw, as far as I can see, there are none of these features in 2009, right? it's not just about ignoring software updates - but kind of a production necessity...(

btw2,
even in later maya releases the described methods only work in case the scaled geo being a separate object not a selection of faces, right?
