Easy:

The red areas denote problematic thickness.

I know how it looks I'm curious how well it will work on my projects.

I finally had a chance to look at this. Those are just regular particles, not fluid particles. I'm referring to the particles in the Fluid system that create tiny splashes. Create a Fluid Domain under Physics and look down at the bottom under Fluid Particles. I actually wrote a tutorial on using blender fluids in LightWave for 3D World Magazine a few months ago (issue 165) and I had to leave out the entire particle part, which disappointed me.

I thought reactor particles were a feature in 2.49 but have not been reimplemented in 2.67.

If you mean particles from fluids, that works ok but are not as exact fit to LBM fluids as they should be probably.

Hmm.. Perhaps it only works with an Inflow.

Yeah the fact that this feature hasn't made it to the post 2.49 releases still makes me sad.

I believe that the reason Blender's particle systems have been largely neglected for a while now is that a new node-based particle system is in development and no one wants to devote resources to a system that will likely become deprecated. Doesn't help anyone right now though... :P

Blender's point releases (on average every 10 weeks) are more feature-rich than the annual releases of many commercial packages...

I haven't looked at Blender for years - I'm impressed!
