3D card not using alpha channel

Hi everyone,
I've got a high-res background for my current project, and I've pulled a key for it to replace the sky. So I merged the key into the BG's alpha channel, but when I mount it on a card it doesn't use the alpha channel for transparency. If I put a replacement sky (on a card) behind the BG then this is what I get:

The replacement sky is the dark blue strip at the top The sky which I pulled the key from isn't being affected at all.

Any ideas?

i would use a "copy" to bring in the new alpha and then use a "premult" after the copy. right now you have the color information still in the image
