Help rigging a Robot

Okay i just wanted to say hello as this is this is my first post. As for my problem im having well here i go i have recently switch from LW to Maya (tried 3dsmax didnít like it) i have tried rigging in LW but gave up early on because it was so complicated now that i have switch to Maya i want to rig. I have made a clank model (From Ratchet and clank for those that dont know ) for a project of mine. I have done some basic tutorials on how to rig in Maya but now i have run into a problem on rigging his arms and legs. I want to them retract and have the control curve thing follow and still be able to control the leg with it. I have spent a long time searching Google(weeks) and have had no luck so i thought i would come ask. If its needed i can post some images.

Help has arrived, I think

I don't think Clank should be model as a robot, but more so as a human rig. Looked around for something relevant to yours and my interest. This should help.

Good luck on your rig.

He is structurally similar to a human, which makes it easier for you to rig him

You're probably going to have to look for transformation tutorials. Transform on ratchet's back
