free service update to v2.01.00

Dear interested users,

the 7th free service update to v2.01.00 for Effex has just been released and registered users can now download it from their Naviť user area. The demo archives on our website have been updated as well (if you are a PLE user you can grab it right there).

Quote: Changes:
- Subgrid Turbulences are back and better than ever before!
- Particle Cacher Constraints support!
- New CSG Blending option
- Bug fixes and improvements to existing nodes

Please see the changelog in your respective user area (download pages) for details about all changes if you are a registered user.

Otherwise a public changelog is also available in our forums: http://www.dpit2.de/community/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3898

Best
Naviť Team

The rate modifier doesn't seem to have any effect on the rate of vorticity particles created?

Only with the ParticleMesh Emitter. In the Particle Grid Emitter always a fixed amount of particles per cell is generated. You can lower the count by using a noise constraint for example (or any other constraint).

Aha! Tx.

So ... where are the subgrid settings hiding?

There are no special settings. You use the turbulence node to add subgrid details. The rest happens automatically.

This is the workflow:
1. Create a simulation (preferably at a lower resolution) and cache the fluid dynamics.
2. Load the low res cache back into the fluid dynamics object and now set a higher resolution in the effex scene.
3. Use the particle turbulence force to add subgrid turbulences (you of course need vorticity particles for this. just emit them via a ParticleGrid Emitter)

That's it. I will create a quick tip tutorial for setting this up tommorrow as well.

Great, thanks Samir!

Glad it's helpful. More how to tutorials to come. I think it's a good idea to have short focused tuts of the basics.
