Torch: Light and Subject Study

So I've been reading and working on a few things regarding light. I am also working with a new subject matter. I've never been one to draw slimy sci-fi monsters and whatnot. I'm trying to expand my boundaries and have some fun in the process. So this is what happened. I wanted to work with a strong light source in a cave so there would be some bounced light as well as have some weird creepy monster ambient light. I know there are some proportion issues on the body but I wanted some critique overall. I worked in value and then overlayed color and then went from there just painting once I established some value. This is only about 3-4 hours into this. I think it's time for some critique. Thanks.

You said you wanted creepy ambient light from the creature, but I'm not seeing it. What kind of ambient light is the creature supposed to give off? Is it self-illuminating? Are the red eyes what you meant?

The bounced light on her shadow side seems too bright. Keep in mind that with every bounce, the light rays get weaker and weaker, and in order for her shadow side to be that bright, the surface that has bounced the light onto her face would have to be even brighter--this is simple logic, and light behavior have to follow the laws of physics in order to look convincing.

Also, because the shadow side is so bright, whatever ambient light from the creature is totally washed out. You need to make the shadow side really dark in order to have the creature's ambient light show up on her clearly.
