z-depth in fusion?!

Hi,

how can i use a z-depth image to do a 3D composition in fusion?
I have three image planes: a sky as the background, a tower as the forground and an animation of planes that should fly around the tower (visible in front of the tower and hidden behind the tower). Can i use the z-depth image of the planes to solve this?

How do i have to setup this?!!

The planes are flying around the building in a circle? Or are they flying across the building in a straight line?

if you have a zdepth channel then you can put it into the image (as extra channel) via the channel boolean node and the use the "perform depth merge" option in the channels tab.

this should do the trick, but dont expect any wonders. because z channels arent antialised it will give you probaly some edge problems.

the best and most used method is to render the stuff with holdout mattes in 3d

yes i will use a matte to cut out the alpha of the planes when they fly behind the tower. Thanks for help!
