Tilable texture question?

Is there an easy way to keep your top/bottom & left/right vertices all at the same elevation when you sculpt on a mudbox plane so that the resulting map extractions remain tilable?

Today I learnt how to extract displacement, AO maps etc from Mudbox for use in Max. I mapped a tilable JPEG onto the Mudbox plane to sculpt over. Now I could fix the seams in photoshop but maybe there's a better way?

I thought of trying to use a 3x3 tiling plane and then crop the outside but I don't think it will be the most memory efficient way to do it.

The tiling plane primitive is exactly for this. You shouldn't need to crop the baked map as all the tiles use the same UV space so the resulting map should come out ready tiling.

It might not be memory efficient, but it's a LOT easier. If you're low on RAM it might not be good, but give it a try and see.

Didn't realise it tiled the UVs but guess that makes sense. will try again!

It worked! 3rd time lucky, managed to sculpt the map in around an hour, compared with about 3 first time round and I'm quite happy with the reuslt.

Can't get displacement to work in MR Arch Des displacement slot. It only works if I plug a 3D displacement map into mr connection part of the shader. And this may be the cause of the VDM not working either i.e it goes in the same slot.
