Water in mentalray

Can anyone explain how to achieve realistic water in maya/mentalray?
i want caribbean style calm water like this:

please help

Well, with Ocean, you can reproduce de calm sea. The secret I guess, is in modeling and material. If you model the terrain under the water, and put in it a bright color material (sand), and create a material for water using mia_material_x, I think you can get a good result. At water material, you can tint the refraction color a bit with a light blue color, and Use Max Distance attribute.

The question is a bit too broad...

Are you creating a still image or animated sequence?
Will the camera be fixed or move closer to/in the water?
Does there need to be any dynamic effects? (Waves, objects interacting, foam, etc...)

Use the mia_mat_x, and in the Refractions section "Use Max Distance" and "Color at Max Distance" will help you achieve the color shift you need. You may try using Translucency as well, to simulate murkiness. Here are some examples of the process and settings, only for orange juice. The colors and settings for an ocean will be different, you may even link in an OceanShader for your colorings to help out.

As others have said, having a good underwater-ground textured nicely will also help.
