how to model a turban

hey guys,

i'm looking to model a turban - something like this image: http://kanakmedia.com/admin/upload/1360742575.jpg

i'm a beginner at 3ds max, so have a couple of thoughts but would appreciate any expert help.

1. model using polygons - but i'm thinking i'll get the overall shape but not the fine features (creases, shadows etc)

2. garment maker - take a long rectangle and apply garment modifier to it. then "mould" it into the desired shape

is there a better/efficient way to do this? would appreciate any pointers

You could start with simple polygon modeling to define the shapes like you said, and use a displacement of cloth folds tiled on your geometry.

I don't think the cloth simulations in 3dsmax would do much.
