I'm looking to build a portfolio to get into the industry. I added the character and birds because it felt boring. I'm a little stuck, it still doesn't feel right. I'm looking for that epic feeling that a lot of concept arts have. Any comments/suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Rinthe,
here my first thoughs:
The overall impression is good.
The general feeling is of some place some how sad or abandonned, more like an ancient utopia really.
The building has some parts much more detailed than others. You can see the grass and the ground line but none other detail in the structure or windows.
The background has the same level of detail or has none: There isn't a smooth change of detail as you progress from the closer to the farest.
Not sure about the perspective, it looks like you have two different camera settings, one for the bg and another for the building.

I don't know about making things look epic, but maybe you should look for strong or clear feeling or story background to transmit to the audience instead of something too vague or general as utopia. Maybe that will help you to go on a more defined path.
Hope this will help,

Nice work,

thanks for sharing,
