Polycarbonate Material

Hi

Trying to create a polycarbonate material for a project, just made this with Tile shader (lines) in the diffusion channel, bump channel, and 1.5 in refraction in transparency, and blur in transparency of 50 % and blur 50% with accuracy from 10 to 50 % (plate nearest camera)
just experimenting.

The picture with the red shapes is my first attempt.

The picture that shows good polycarbonate renderings/textures, I found here http://www.kerkythea.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=79854 , I think that is a successful attempt, but for another renderer.

Any tips for creating a fast rendering material like this, my current material is pretty fast, but I don't think it looks right.

Using blur will never give fast rendering results I'm afraid. It is good to know that the higher you set your blur, the higher the rendertimes (if my memory serves me right). So better not so it too high. Also have you looked up the right IOR for the material you are trying to make?

I know, but it gives ok rendering speed since I do not work with animation. I have been using multichannel renderings before and just blurred or motion blurred the reflection channel to get a desired effect.

Now I wonder, is there any tips on getting the my texture more like the example... With normal maps or anything like that?
