Wow what a beast to pick for modeling!
I always played with the thought of modeling an aircraft carrier but never started it as those guys are just too complex so I stayed with choppers
Great to see you're tackling one!

Looking forward to see more!

Cheers
Andre

@AlexSarakapudaff - It took about 3 months but I think that most of the time was spent on gathering references. It was surprisingly difficult to find photos from certain angles. Not to mention finding information for individual parts such as the Phalanx, Rim 7, etc.

With regards to your suggestion on the final composition I think you may be right... especially because I am afraid I can not produce a convincing image with the water (foam on the waves and things like that).
Thank you for your input.

@ACantarel - Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to comment. You have been an inspiration to me for a long time. This model is indeed a beast but I won't detail it as much as you do with your helicopters because my hardware won't be able to handle it. At this stage, without any aircraft on deck, the model has over 4 mil. polygons and I estimate it will go over 15 mil. with all the bells and whistles.

Hey man,

I just found this on the demo reel/finished work section. Its a really cool animation of a carrier with all the planes and choppers.

Not sure if you've seen it or not.

Thanks AJ1! That's some spectacular work.

Not sure if I can beat that but I am sure going to try
Bellow is a small update with the MH60R helicopters (folded and unfolded).

Awesome I love it
I'm happy to read that my previous work inspired you!
How much time did you spend on the Sea Hawk helicopter?
That's a neat crane you have there on deck, never saw that thing before, looks interesting.

Cheers

I'm Ron Burgundy? (sorry, couldn't resist)

Anyways great work!

Are you going to make an F-18?

The Navy has a new fighter called the F-35 coming out soon. Might be something to look at if you want a more futuristic style.
