Using PolySplit for NGon Fix

Hello Everyone,

Well I have an issue. Many years of my modeling days have been spent using boolean. I realize it is a terrible function to use so I decided to stop using it. However, the main reason I used Boolean and its function union was to merge two meshes into one for AO map purposes and to be more clean of course I used the Split Poly tool to resolve the horrible NGons.

Now realizing the downsides of booleans I need to use Combine. However I have no clue how to do so because union merged the meshes together perfectly and then allowed me to use the split tool although with errors.

If someone can either tell me exactly how to do this or point me to an appropriate tutorial I would appreciate it greatly.
