I do pitches constently. You work 1-2 days on some nice frames for a storyboard and if you get it, you have a nice project in your hand. It's very rare I lose a pitch and I think it's totally worth the time and effort especially if you are confident in your work. Some companies put money for ads and promotions, I do pitches.

Doing 3 art tests is kinda ridiculous. The first place I applied to right after college required me to do a 6-8 hour art test, mainly because my portfolio was more geared towards film and this was a video game studio. I did it and was hired the week after. It was nice to be given a chance to "prove" myself mainly because the job required previous experience, and I was confident enough with my work to know that I would be hired if I was given a chance.
