Team Render Questions

If I can see another machine in the TR window
Have a single frame to render
Should the frame be split? (it only showing the home machine bucket colour)
Can't for the life of me get the remote machine working on a single frame
(render set to current frame)

If you turn the home machine off in the TR list - does TR still work, using the remote machine(s)

In both cases - working on MacPro Laptop. Client running of 6-core MacPro.

how many buckets are you seeing? (it was unknown to me that TR will only do two buckets for each TR client no matter how many cores they are - so you may in fact be seeing the correct number of buckets)

does it show both have a yellow/orange dot in the team render machines window? (meaning they are running) compared to just green when they are connected but idle

perhaps you are seeing what i did - all my buckets were orange and i did not know that i needed to choose the "view menu - show bucket color" option to actually turn on the individual colors for each client (you will know it is on because the team render machine list will change to show each client name in the different colors)

Hi dann

4 buckets - coloured as per home machine colour (show bucket colour on)

Remote mac is green dot. While rendering home machine has orange dot - remote stays green.
When render is finished the home machine goes back to green

Its like its just not using the TR client?

and you are using the "team render to picture viewer" render option right?

from what mash said i think there should only be two buckets per TR client if it was indeed running with just your home machine and TR - he said TR would use two buckets one for current and one that is next - so the fact you have four buckets on a six core machine is strange (if it was running just local it should show all 6 buckets)

what does the TR client say on it's screen output? it should give info about downloading the job and rendering the frame

i had that one weird glitch in my first install where it would give an error downloading assets but after a reinstall everything has been working quite smoothly

oh - do you have all necessary plugins/modules etc installed on the TR remote client? perhaps it is dropping off with something missing?

is there any feedback in the team render client window? (does it show the scene transferring?)

how about versions? from the shipping version of 15.008 there is an immediate update to install of 15.037 - has that been done on the TR client too?

i'm still getting to understand how the TR client responds too so sorry that is the best ideas i have at the moment...

I think this is all down to network issues

Hard wired into a megabit switch, it works just fine

Aswered one question - yes you can just use the TR clients for rendering and turn off the local machine. ie Saves the (local) laptop going into overdrive.

Appreciate the issues with speed - but cant seem to get this to work at all over WIFI.

I had some trouble getting my Macbook Pro to be recognized over wifi as well . In the end it was 'just' a sharing problem I had somewhere.

Cannot be precise as it was late when I got it working and I went straight to bed after that. Just know it was something I changed in the sharing/user groups prefs.

More tests, more Qs

Simple S&T animation. TR working fine. 8mins to render.
Why does TR to picture viewer report 71hrs 57m 54sec?
Why when its finished doesn't it show a render completion time?
