FiberFX - Shading/rendering tutorials and tips?

Even if I consider myself a rather seasoned Lightwaver I still have to get my feet wet when it comes to FiberFX - I was using Sasquatch mostly in the rare occasions in the past when it came to hair/fur... Now I am trying to dig a bit deeper into FFX, as Sasquatch nowadays seems to have to many restrictions especially when it comes to the cameras that you can use for effective rendering. I am still stumbling a lot here...
I am finding quite a lot info on using the creation of guides, styles, editing them and also animating but not so very much on the shading and rendering side. Is there anybody who can point me in a direction of some information/tutorials on the web that deal with "real world" examples of use of FFX when it comes to efficiently shade, light and render FiberFX hair or fur?
Or maybe even someplace where one could find some presets to dissect?

Yes, I found them. William Vaughan´s are Tips and Tricks not really new anymore but still a great source of information - pretty much all of them are rather short and easy to digest, good general source of tips and tricks. (havent´t watched all of them yet, though) There are also a few that deal the shading side of FFX to a certain degree:

"Dog Hair"
"Using a Vertex Color Map to color fibers"
"Creating Thick Grass with Fiber FX" (slightly different topic this one but holds a good bit of information that can be applied to hair as well)

Did actually not go all the way back to LW 9´s manuals - glad you pointed that one out: From Page 22 on is a great collection of nice little thumbs that seem to be a good starting info!

Thank you! :-)

And I found this one by Jason Westmas:

http://forums.newtek.com/showthread...ow-Observations

has some very valuable information in particular about the importance of shadowsettings and their influence on the shading of fibers. Not offering no general solutions per se but illustrates the correlation between parameters quite clearly (and why one should not expect too quick results ;-\ )
But anyway: Little by little the bird builds its nest ... ;-)

yes ;]

i feel FFX shading is kinda like lighting an interior in LW, (and other 3Dapps)
it just needs quite a lot of testing, until one gets it right... :]
